Easy Short Term Stress Solutions

Relieving stress can have a huge impact on your productivity. Stress doesn’t come on it’s own and simultaneously won’t leave on its own. There are temporary and long term solutions to help you relieve stress. By implementing a combination of these techniques you can reduce your stress levels which will in turn increase your productivity. Here are some short term solutions to reduce the stress in your life:

Going for a walk is a great thing to do regardless of whether you are angry, sad or overwhelmed. It doesn’t matter if you choose to leave your desk and walk around the office, or take yourself outside for some fresh air. A walk will give you time to yourself, which can help you work through a problem in your head and reach a conclusion, something that isn’t as easy to achieve when sitting in front of a screen. In addition to this physical activity causes the body to produce endorphins, also known as the feel-good hormone.

Playing some music is an easy way to mitigate stress. It’s as simple as popping on your headphones and listening to either your all time favorite songs or the latest ‘Calming’ playlist Spotify has to offer, doing this will successfully soothe your emotions and temporarily remove stress.

By self enforcing a focus shift you can stop dwelling and find an alternative focus to occupy your thoughts. This can be done by watching a video, looking at photos or reading your book. Doing something you enjoy can return your thinking process back to a positive place.

Our last quick fix is Chocolate and Wine, seriously. Both have been scientifically proven to make you happier on a short term bases, and help to take the edge off things. While wine shouldn’t be consumed at work, there’s no harm in a sneaky bite of chocolate, or a glass of wine upon arrival home.
