Client success
Our clients are amazing; hardworking, resourceful and resilient. And it’s been our privilege to work with all of them providing business advice and planning, personal guidance, and frequently, the network connections for mutual benefit and growth.
Because that’s what works around here.
Eastern Marine Engineering Services
Charlie and Laura purchased Eastern Marine in 2018. Charlie is one of the best marine engineers in the business and his experience and love for anything on the sea underpins the success of Eastern Marine. Charlie qualified as an automotive engineer with Toyota New Zealand and previously worked at Power Equipment New Zealand specialising in Yanmar marine engines.
Laura also has a love for boats and the ocean. Previously working as an event manager, she brings her management and organisation skills to the marine industry, modernising the workshop and its systems to bring their customers the best experience possible.
Eastern Marine has a team of seven, which includes four qualified engineers and an apprentice. They service all makes and models of marine propulsion equipment and are a certified Mercury Service Centre.
Chester Grey is honoured that Charlie and Laura engaged with us to assist them with the growth of the business after purchase, and with ongoing advice and accounting services.
ThatDay Charitable Trust
ThatDay is a free-to-use web app designed to help all New Zealanders plan and save for retirement. ThatDay has some unique ways of helping people achieve their savings goals, with behavioural change playing a big part. Our vision at ThatDay is to help New Zealanders live happier, healthier and more engaged lives.
ThatDay Charitable Trust was founded by Paul Mason, following the sale of his cycle clothing business to a large Swiss-based company. Chester Grey proved indispensable in negotiating the complexities of an international transaction and getting the sale over the line. Having established a high level of trust and confidence during this relationship, Chester Grey was the logical choice as an accounting firm for his next venture.
Demonstrating their integrity Chester Grey offered pro bono accounting services to ThatDay Charitable Trust. We are extremely grateful for their support and expertise
Swages Engineering Limited
Swages Engineering Limited was established in 1978 by John Graham with a second-hand Lathe, a drill press and a bench grinder.
John’s son Mike purchased the business in 2001 and the business has grown from a very small workshop to New Zealand’s largest CNC workshop, based in East Tamaki with a staff in excess of 50 people.
Mike has planned strategically for growth, backed up by monthly governance meetings and timely accurate financial reporting. The company has invested significantly in state of the art milling machines.
Chester Grey Chartered Accountants Limited has contributed to this success by providing the company with full back office and payroll services; assistance with strategic planning and related budgets; month end financial reports and convening monthly governance meetings.
“If you’re looking for a helpful, professional accountancy service you’ve come to the right place. Stephen and his team are always approachable and helpful with all aspects of their work, with their input and support we’ve made major changes to the profitability of our business and their monthly input is keeping us focused on our goals. We also use their backoffice team for the day to day invoicing and payables and as a result have more accurate data, faster and saved money from when we had our staff doing this.”
