John Ensom established Ensom Funeral Services as a family-owned funeral home providing compassionate, professional care during difficult times. Drawing on more than 50 years of industry experience, he built the business on personal service and a commitment to excellence.

Ensom Funeral Services served the Auckland community with bereavement services that honoured tradition while meeting modern needs.  As the business grew, it evolved to meet the community’s changing needs. Rav Biswas joined the company after more than a decade in the funeral industry, bringing a fresh perspective, a passion for serving families and a commitment to sustaining the values John Ensom had established.

In 2025, the company rebranded as Ensom & Biswas Funerals, reflecting its growth and continued dedication to serving the community as a New Zealand family-owned business.   Honouring John’s legacy while embracing the future under Rav’s leadership and integrity is at the heart of the Ensom & Biswas rebrand.

Ensom & Biswas Funerals recently expanded by opening a chapel in Takanini.

In early May, John and Rav invited the local community to tour the chapel, meet the team and celebrate the milestone.

This new space has been created to be welcoming, accessible, and practical for the families E&B cares for and marks an important milestone for a proudly local, family-owned business.

At the opening Rav was awarded the “Executive Award for Excellence” by the New Zealand Independent Funeral Homes; an association of funeral homes formed to promote amongst its members the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and service.
